Elekta MicroDrive™ is fully integrated with Leksell® Multipurpose Stereotactic Arc and Leksell® Vantage™ Arc System. It provides exact positioning of electrodes in the brain when performing Micro Electrode Recording (MER), macro stimulation and lead electrode implantation.

Elekta MicroDrive™ with its clean-cut design and transparent function provides the highest level of ease-of-use and confidence in daily practice based on precision and reliability. The unique, full integration with Leksell Stereotactic System® and Leksell® Vantage™ Stereotactic System further enhances a quick, efficient workflow and ensures accuracy. In addition, no draping is needed since the entire Elekta MicroDrive™ is autoclavable, in contrast to motor driven devices. Elekta MicroDrive™ has no complicated or fragile parts ensuring very high reliability without sacrificing accuracy. All invasive parts are made of biocompatible material.
Freedom of choice – versatile and adaptable
Elekta MicroDrive™ offers considerable freedom to the neurosurgeon by supporting different localization methods. It allows simultaneous recording of up to five electrodes. Multiple single tracks can also be recorded using any one of the five positions, without adjusting the arc. Thanks to an open interface it can be used with compatible MER system available on the market. The optimal electrode diameter is 0.8 mm, but electrodes with a diameter from 0.3 to 0.9 mm can be used together with compatible cannulas from Elekta. The user can choose between a number of different types of electrodes such as micro electrodes, combined micro-macro electrodes, macro electrodes and also lead electrodes from compatible vendors. In addition, the electrode holder is available with two different hole diameters to support different electrode designs. To facilitate lead electrode implantation Elekta MicroDrive™ includes unique, specially designed parts: lead electrode holder, guide tube and an indexer, which increases accuracy when setting the depth stop.
Confidence through highest accuracy in daily practice
In order to ensure best possible accuracy Elekta MicroDrive™ is tailor-made and fully integrated with the instrument carrier of Leksell Stereotactic System® or Leksell® Vantage™ Stereotactic System, a unique feature which uses both the stop and guide holders. Accurate localization is further facilitated through manual control of Elekta MicroDrive™.
Elekta MicroDrive™ has a range of 40 mm and a resolution of 0.05 mm.
